Wheatley man arrested for assault, home invasion

A 44-year-old man has been arrested and charged after a pair of violent confrontations in Wheatley.

Police said they were called in at around 11 p.m. Saturday after the man allegedly attacked someone who was leaving an apartment at a multi-unit residential building on Erie Street North in Wheatley.

Officers said the man allegedly assaulted the victim, causing some "minor visible injuries" to the victim's neck.

Police said shortly after that, the man showed up at the victim's apartment again, this time forcing his way inside, causing some damage to the door as well.

Officers said once the man got inside the unit, he caused some damage to the victim's personal property.

Police arrested the suspect just after 3:30 p.m. Sunday on Erie Street North in Wheatley.

A 44-year-old Wheatley man was charged with assault causing bodily harm, break-and-enter, and mischief.

He was taken to police headquarters before he was released with conditions and a future court date.

Man accused of throwing tantrum after domestic violence arrest

A 42-year-old Chatham-Kent man is in more trouble with police after he allegedly smashed a phone while he was in police custody.

Police said the man was initially arrested in Howard Township at around 11:45 p.m. Saturday on a warrant for intimate partner violence.

He was taken to police headquarters and was set to be held there pending a bail hearing.

Police said the next day, at around 10 a.m. Sunday, the man got angry and smashed a phone while he was in a booth booking legal counsel.

Officers said the man then turned towards police, indicating that he was going to attack them, but he managed to hold back.

He was charged with mischief for smashing the phone.

Wanted woman arrested in Wallaceburg

A police call about an unrelated matter ended up leading officers right to a wanted woman Sunday afternoon.

Police said they were investigating a call on Reaume Avenue in Wallaceburg shortly after 4 p.m. Sunday when they found a woman who was wanted on several warrants.

Officers said the woman was arrested and is facing a list of charges including: four counts of drug possession for the purpose of trafficking, two counts of failing to attend court, and one count each of failing to comply with her release conditions, possession of stolen property, theft, and possession of unmarked cigarettes.

She was taken to police headquarters and was set to be held there pending a bail hearing.

Wanted woman arrested during traffic stop

A 30-year-old Chatham-Kent woman who was wanted by police is back in custody after officers pulled over a vehicle in Chatham early Monday morning.

Police said they found the woman while they were conducting a traffic stop on Thomas Street in Chatham at 2 a.m. Monday.

The officer learned that the woman who was driving had a suspended driver's license and was wanted for breaching her bail conditions.

Police said she was arrested and taken to police headquarters where she was set to be held pending a bail hearing.

She is currently charged with three counts of failing to comply with a release order, two counts of driving while suspended, and one count of drug possession.
