Holiday shipping deadlines approaching

The deadline is fast approaching for those who have holiday packages or cards they would like to mail (within Canada) in time for Christmas.

Canada Post had previously advised residents to mail their holiday cards by Friday, December 15 for national destinations, December 18 for regional locations, and by December 19 for local areas.

"The holiday season is here and we are excited to deliver the best peak season ever for Canadians and businesses across the country," read an emailed statement from Canada Post. "We know how much the holiday season matters to online shoppers and Canadian businesses – and we’re ready to deliver more for them at this special time of the year."

For local areas, the deadline to ship packages through regular delivery is December 19, or December 21 via priority or Xpresspost.

Regional packages must be sent by December 19 for regular shipping, or December 21 via priority or Xpresspost.

The deadline to send parcels across the country by regular mail is December 18, or December 20 through priority or Xpresspost.

Canada Post noted that dates are between major urban centres and are dependent on origin and destination.

Details about mail and parcel standards can be found on Canada Post's website

"We also recommend that when ordering online customers should make sure to read the retailer’s shipping details and choose the best delivery option that works for them," read an emailed statement.
