There's a changing of the guard at the Chatham-Kent Sexual Assault Crisis Centre (CKSACC).
Longtime Executive Director Michelle Schryer is retiring in January after holding the position at the CKSACC for over 30 years.
Linda Soulliere will take over as the new executive director in the new year.
The CKSACC said Soulliere was the Executive Director at the Coalition for Persons with Disabilities in Mississauga for nearly 25 of the 30 years she was employed by the group.
President of the CKSACC Board of Directors Andrea Dickinson said Chatham-Kent has been fortunate to have Schryer's excellent leadership, knowledge, and articulation of equality issues for over three decades.
"We are thankful to Michelle for her strong commitment and contributions in working towards a more just society - one in which gendered violence has been eliminated, and where everyone is valued and respected," said Dickinson. "She has consistently represented the CKSACC with courage and integrity at local, provincial and national levels, and has brought pride to the Centre through her participation on panels at international events. Her considerable efforts have contributed in very real ways to the advancement of gender-equality; including legislative reform."
The CKSACC thanked Schryer for all the passion, compassion, and insight she has brought to work and wished her a long and happy retirement.
CKSACC noted Soulliere is an outstanding candidate to lead the Chatham-Kent Sexual Assault Crisis Centre into the future because of her record of successful leadership and advocacy, and her proven skills and vast wealth of knowledge.
"Throughout her years in the not- for-profit sector, Linda has demonstrated tremendous talent and skill in proposal-writing and developing successful grant applications," said Dickinson. "She has excelled in her work as an advocate for vulnerable persons, and been tenacious in her efforts to defend human rights."
