Charges withdrawn, sentences handed down in murder of Windsor man

Two people have been sentenced and two others have had charges withdrawn following the 2021 murder of a Windsor man on Walpole Island.

In total eight people were arrested following the horrific death of 25-year-old Oyebode Oyenuga. His remains were found on Walpole Island First Nation on March 17, 2021, about a month after he was reported missing.

The Superior Court of Justice in Sarnia confirmed charges against Turuk Thomas and Nashaye Walker were withdrawn on December 8.

On December 1, Dejour Millington pleaded guilty to committing an indignity to a dead body or human remains. Millington was sentenced to serve 20 months in jail, with two years probation.

Rolf Agard pleaded guilty on December 1 to manslaughter and kidnapping. Agard was sentenced to serve 12 years in jail, however, Agard was credited for 41 months, leaving 103 months (or 8.5 years) remaining. Agar was also handed down a weapons prohibition for life.

Four others are still facing charges.

Jeffery Drew Bliss has a court date scheduled for January 5, 2024. The Chatham-Kent man was charged in 2021 with trafficking a firearm, weapon, device or ammunition.

Zy’Shaun Lawrence will return to court on February 2, 2024. Lawrence was charged in 2021 with accessory after the fact to murder and indignity to a dead body.

Dwayne Jahton Blair and Saccaara Johnson have both been adjourned to their trial date of September 16, 2024. Both were charged with first-degree murder in 2021.
