An 86-year-old Chatham-Kent woman was taken to a London hospital after a pair of crashes stalled traffic through Tilbury on Tuesday.
Chatham-Kent police said the first collision was at the intersection of Ella Street and Canal Street.
Officers said emergency crews were called there shortly after 11 a.m. Tuesday after an SUV that was turning onto Canal St. from Ella St. collided with a van, sending the van into a pole.
Police said the SUV kept heading east on Canal St. after that collision and proceeded onto Tilbury Street before it went off the road at Mill Street after the driver "failed to negotiate the bend."
The 86-year-old Romney Township woman who was driving the SUV was taken to a London hospital via Ornge Air Ambulance for medical attention. No other injuries were reported.
Police said the collisions are still under investigation and they are asking anyone with information to come forward.
The crash on Mill Street prompted police to close a section of that road for a couple of hours Tuesday.
Shortly after Mill Street reopened, at around 1:45 p.m. Tuesday, police were called back to the area for a collision on Queen's Line between Davidson Road and Bonneau Line.
Officers said they learned that a vehicle heading west was turning left onto Davidson Road from Queen's Line when it was hit by a second vehicle that was trying to pass the line of cars stopped behind the vehicle that was turning.
Police said neither of the drivers involved in the crash were hurt but both vehicles were towed from the scene.
The driver of the passing vehicle was charged with careless driving.
