Man arrested during R.I.D.E. check

Chatham-Kent police are reminding the public to plan ahead during the holiday season and avoid driving while impaired.

A male driver was found to be under the influence of alcohol during a R.I.D.E. (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) program in Chatham over the weekend.

Police said that he was taken to headquarters for further testing and the man was found to have 1.5 times the legal limit of alcohol in his system.

The driver was charged with driving while impaired by alcohol.

Missing person located

A man was reported missing in the early morning hours of November 25.

Police said that he was last seen in the area of Bear Line and that the weather conditions at the time had them concerned for his welfare.

Officers located the man, safe, later the same day.

Multiple break-and-enters reported

CK police reported that several trailers at the C.M. Wilson Conservation Park were broken into recently.

According to police, it was reported by an owner who was walking in the area over the weekend.

The trailer park area of the conservation area is closed for the season.

Police believe a burglar alarm prevented the theft of an east end building.

"A new building under construction on Grand Ave East had an alarm triggered in the early morning hours," police said in a release.

An eyewitness said that they saw several people leaving the area before officers arrived.

Police determined that nothing was taken and the only damage done was to a window.
