Three more break-ins in CK over the weekend, one arrest made

Chatham-Kent police are reporting three more break-ins that all took place over the past couple of days.

That's on top of the seven that police reported on Saturday and Sunday.

In the first case reported Monday morning, CK police said someone broke into a residence in the area of Oxley Drive in Chatham sometime between November 9 and November 12 by climbing in a window and then took off with about $3,000 worth of comic books.

In the second case, someone broke into a home in Erieau between 12:49 p.m. and 12:59 p.m. Sunday and stole a 65-inch TV and a cooler with some alcoholic drinks inside.

Police said there was some video surveillance at the residence, but it only captured movement and did not show any images of potential suspects.

No arrests were made in either of those two cases and police are still looking for tips as they continue to investigate.

Anonymous callers can call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) and may be eligible for a cash reward.

In the third case, police did make an arrest.

CK police were called for a break-in in progress shortly before 11 p.m. Sunday.

Police said they set up a containment around the scene and found a man riding away on a bike while carrying two commercial leaf blowers.

Officers chased him down and arrested him only to find out that he was also wanted on multiple outstanding warrants.

He was charged with break and enter to commit mischief, break and enter to commit theft, possession of stolen property, and possession of break-in tools and was taken into custody pending a bail hearing.
