Highgate man charged with assault, threats, dangerous driving

A 23-year-old Highgate man is facing a handful of charges and a future court date after he was arrested in Florence Wednesday afternoon.

Chatham-Kent police said they found the man at an address on Water Street at around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday and confirmed that he was wanted on an outstanding warrant for assault causing bodily harm and assault with a weapon.

Police said he was also charged with two counts of uttering threats and one count of dangerous driving in connection with a separate case.

The man was arrested, taken back to police headquarters, and later released with a future court date.

Police recover stolen vehicle in Wallaceburg

Chatham-Kent police were able to track down a stolen truck shortly after it was reported stolen from an address on Harwich Road.

Police said they were called in just before 4 a.m. Thursday and were told that the vehicle had just taken place within the last 10 minutes.

Officers said they were able to track down the vehicle shortly after that in a nearby town, but the driver took off when police tried to get the vehicle to stop.

Police said they later found the vehicle abandoned in the area of Wallace Street in Wallaceburg and noted that the vehicle's registered owner has been notified.
