Man accused of threatening someone, punching police officer

A 32-year-old Wallaceburg man is facing a handful of charges after he allegedly threatened someone and then pushed and punched police when they were arresting him.

Chatham-Kent police said they made the arrest after they were called to an address on Thomas Street in Wallaceburg at around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday for a disturbance.

Police said they were told a male tenant who was in the hallway of a complex on that street started calling someone obscenities and threatened to kill her.

Officers said when they showed up and tried to confront the man, he took off running.

Police were able to take him into custody, but the man also allegedly pushed police and punched an officer.

The 32-year-old Wallaceburg man was charged with one count each of uttering death threats, obstructing a police officer, and assaulting a police officer.

Police said their investigation also showed that the man was wanted for failing to attend court.

He was taken to police headquarters and was set to be held there pending a bail hearing.

Man wanted in CK and London arrested

The long arm of the law has caught up to a 50-year-old Chatham man who was wanted by two different police services in southwestern Ontario.

Chatham-Kent police said the man allegedly failed to show up for a scheduled fingerprinting appointment back in March and also allegedly skipped out on a meeting with a probation officer, which was a requirement of his release conditions.

The accused was arrested and charged with one count of breach of probation and three counts of failing to comply with a summons.

He was later released from CK police custody with a future court date, and then handed over to London police for court purposes.
