Charing Cross resident arrested for assault after crash

Chatham-Kent police made an arrest after they were called to investigate a disturbance that followed a collision in Ridgetown on Sunday.

CK police said they were called to the scene at the Circle K on Erie Street South in Ridgetown at around 6:40 p.m. Sunday and that two individuals were involved in the disturbance after a minor vehicle collision.

Officers said one person stayed at the scene and that they ended up arresting a 51-year-old Charing Cross resident in connection with the case.

The accused was charged with assault causing bodily harm and was later released with conditions and a future court date.

Man wanted for skipping court arrested in Chatham

A 22-year-old Chatham man accused of missing his court date will get a police escort this time to make sure he shows up.

Chatham-Kent police said the man was wanted on an outstanding warrant after he allegedly failed to show up for a scheduled court appearance on March 20 in connection with an impaired driving investigation.

Police said they found the man on Jeffery Street in Chatham shortly before 5 p.m. Sunday and took him into custody pending a bail hearing.

Police arrest wanted man at a church in Chatham

Chatham-Kent police made one arrest and asked two other people to leave after they were called to investigate some suspicious activity at St. Joseph's Church on Wellington Street West in Chatham Sunday evening.

Police said officers were called to the church at around 9:15 p.m. Sunday and found three people on the property, one of whom was wanted on an outstanding warrant for breaching his probation order.

Officers said he was arrested and taken to police headquarters before he was later released with a future court date.

Police said the other individuals left the property when they were asked to leave.
