Fire crews from Tilbury and Merlin were called to the scene at 38 Mill Street West that saw a fire extend from a shed to a garage.
According to fire officials, the blaze was quickly extinguished, protecting other nearby buildings.
No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire has not been determined, it's reported to have caused $60,000 worth of damage.
Alan Smith will begin his new role with the municipality on July 20.
