Wallaceburg man arrested for murder after police find body

A 68-year-old Wallaceburg man is charged with first-degree murder after Chatham-Kent police found a body in a home on Elgin Street in Wallaceburg over the weekend.

CK police said they found a deceased 64-year-old Wallaceburg man in the home after they were called there for a medical emergency at around 1:45 a.m. Saturday.

Police said the man who died had an "apparent injury" and officers initiated a death investigation.

A 68-year-old Wallaceburg man was arrested on Sunday in connection with the case and he was charged with first-degree murder.

Police said the man who was charged is being held in custody pending a bail hearing, adding that they can confirm that the victim and the accused know each other and that it is believed to be an isolated incident with no further concern for public safety.

Officers said because it is an ongoing investigation, they are not able to provide any other details at this time. The accused person's name was not released to the public.
