Tuesday's forecast for trick-or-treaters is a little frightening.
Environment Canada Meteorologist Geoff Coulson said the arrival of a cold front Monday will bring us colder than normal temperatures for Hallowe'en, with a high around 6 C on Tuesday.
"It's going to be a bit on the chilly side, certainly for the kids heading out to trick-or-treat in the early evening hours," said Coulson. "Layers under the costume may be the best bet."
The normal daytime high for this time of year in southwestern Ontario is around 11 C.
Coulson said there's also the slight chance of late afternoon showers Tuesday while the kids are out collecting treats. He said those showers could change to possible flurries in the evening and overnight hours.
"For most areas, [southwestern Ontario] just a slight chance of showers around the time the kids are going to be heading out," he said. "As the evening wears on though, that slight chance remains, but there is the possibility that shower activity could mix in with flurry activity. But, by the time flurries start to show up, at least the smaller kids will probably be home and done by then."
We can expect a return to more seasonal temperatures by the weekend.
"And then there are some indications from some of the models as we get further into the month, maybe more towards mid-November we may see the temperatures bounce back a bit," said Coulson. "Now, saying warmer than normal by mid-November isn't going to mean a return to 24 degree temperatures, but it certainly does look like a little milder than normal. So no real deep freeze at this point. The real arrival of lake-effect flurries to stay and colder weather to stay, still looks like it's a little ways off."
