Duo face new charges after arrests on outstanding warrants

Police arrested a man and woman, both from Chatham, in Wallaceburg following a traffic complaint.

The vehicle from the complaint was located at 6 a.m. Saturday in a parking lot on McNaughton Avenue.

Officers determined that the female driver had a blood alcohol concentration over the legal limit and charged her accordingly. She was also charged on an outstanding warrant for failing to appear in court.

During the driver's arrest police found that the male passenger was also wanted for missing court and he was arrested.

When searching the vehicle, police found 9mm ammunition rounds and a suspected 40 grams of fentanyl. As the man was bound by a curfew and had a weapons order against him.

According to police, the 37-year-old man was arrested and charged with several breaches in relation to his weapons prohibition order, and his curfew. He was also charged with drug possession for the purpose of trafficking.

The 45-year-old woman was also charged with weapons and drug offences.

She was released from custody with a future court date.

Fentanyl found following warrant arrest

Chatham-Kent police recognized a 35-year-old man just after 12 a.m. Sunday.

He was arrested on warrants for assault with a weapon and robbery.

During a search of the man's person, police found 10.9 grams of suspected fentanyl and subsequently charged him with drug possession.

The Chatham man was released from custody with a future court date.
