Stolen Credit Card Shopping Spree

A 45-year-old Chatham man has been charged with several offences after he allegedly went on a spending spree with someone else's credit card.

Chatham-Kent police said the suspect was charged with five counts of unauthorized use of a credit card and five counts of possessing stolen property.

The charges stem from a robbery at a home on Peter Street in Chatham on August 15, 2023.

Police said they learned the masked suspects stole a large amount of money and the victim's wallet from the home. It's alleged that on on August 27, 2023, the suspect used the debit card to make several purchases throughout Chatham.

According to police, investigators monitored the victim's debit and credit card activity and identified the man through the stores’ surveillance video footage.

Officers found him on Wednesday and arrested him.

Police Looking for Egg Chucker

Chatham-Kent police are on the hunt for someone who threw an egg at a pedestrian in Chatham and nearly put their eye out.

Police said on September 9, 2023, the occupant of a vehicle threw an egg from the passenger side window and struck a pedestrian in the eye on St. Clair Street in Chatham near Oxley Drive.

The victim was taken to the hospital with severe injuries, according to police.

The vehicle is described as an older model, square-body pickup truck with a chrome grill.

Woman Arrested for Failing to Attend Court

The long arm of the law has caught up with a woman from Chatham wanted on an outstanding arrest warrant for failing to attend court on a fraud charge.

Chatham-Kent police said the 29-year-old female was facing a charge of fraud under $5,000, was located on Grand Avenue East in Chatham on Wednesday, and was taken into custody.
