Several services will be either closed or altered in Chatham-Kent on Thanksgiving Day.
All municipal, provincial, and federal offices will be closed on Monday. There will be no Canada Post delivery or Ride CK service.
Service Ontario branches will be closed on Thanksgiving, however, some transactions, such as driver's licence and plate renewals, can still be completed on their website.
All banks, credit unions, and financial institutions will take Monday off. The same thing goes for all students in Chatham-Kent, along with St. Clair College and the University of Windsor.
Classes for all schools resume on Tuesday.
Police, fire, and ambulance are operational 24 hours a day, every day, and are accessible by dialing “911” for emergency calls only.
The Fire Administration office will be closed on Monday, October 9, and will re-open on Tuesday, October 10 at 8:30 a.m.
All theatres, museums, and heritage sites will be closed for the day on Monday. All branches of the Chatham-Kent Public Library will also be closed.
CK Public Health will be closed for Thanksgiving Day, but essential after-hours public health services are available by calling 1-866-446-8207.
Municipal pools and areas will be closed on Monday and open back up for recreation on Tuesday.
Collection services will be delayed by one day during the week of October 9. Residents can refer to the 2023 Recycling and Waste Collection Guide for further details.
Some healthcare services offered at Chatham-Kent Health Alliance’s Chatham and Wallaceburg sites will be altered on Monday, October 9 in recognition of the holiday.
During the holiday, some outpatient diagnostic tests will take place. Patients with scheduled diagnostic tests are advised to attend their appointments.
These departments will also be staffed to meet the needs of inpatients and emergencies.
The Chatham-Kent Mental Health and Addictions Program Outpatient Department will be closed on Monday, as well as the Rapid Access to Addiction Medicine clinic.
The Emergency Departments at the Chatham and Wallaceburg sites will remain open 24 hours daily.
