You can expect some construction-related slowdowns in downtown Wallaceburg starting Wednesday.
Work on the final phase of the Dufferin Avenue Reconstruction Project will be causing some traffic disruptions for the next couple of months.
The construction will cause lane reductions on Dufferin Ave. between Walnut Drive to McNaughton Avenue from October 4 until December 1, 2023. Traffic will still be able to get through while construction is underway, but drivers should expect delays.
Municipal officials said they will also maintain access to all properties and businesses throughout the project but members of the public are "encouraged to plan travel in advance" and to follow the signage and be patient when you are travelling in and around the construction zone.
The project includes the reconstruction of storm sewers and watermain pipes, rehabilitation of the asphalt road, reconstruction of existing sidewalks, work on traffic signals, and boulevard restoration.
The work on the underground pipes, the road, and the sidewalks is scheduled to wrap up by December, but the boulevard restoration should wrap up in Spring 2024.
