Dufferin Ave. construction will temporarily close Lord Selkirk Bridge

You can expect to run into some detours and delays in downtown Wallaceburg after the long weekend.

The intersection of Dufferin Avenue and McNaughton Avenue in Wallaceburg is scheduled to be shut down from Tuesday, September 5 at 7 a.m. until Friday, September 15 at 6 p.m. as part of the Dufferin Avenue Reconstruction Project.

A release from the Municipality of Chatham-Kent said the work on the water main, traffic signal, and road construction will also force the closure of McNaughton Avenue between Wallace Street and Dufferin Avenue -- shutting down the Lord Selkirk Bridge over the Sydenham River.

The detour route while construction is underway is Arnold Street - Mason Street - Old Glass Road - Base Line - Murray Street. You can find a map of the detour below.

Construction for the Dufferin Ave. Reconstruction Project is expected to be complete by November 2023, with restoration work scheduled to take place in the spring/summer of 2024.

The project includes construction on a stretch of Dufferin Ave. from McNaughton Ave. to the western limits of Wallaceburg.
