Every two years, the Thames Art Gallery invites emerging and mid-career artists from Chatham-Kent and across the province to submit their work to be featured in an exhibition. The choice of who and what will be featured in 2023 has now been made.
Guest juror Carla Garnet had an overwhelming choice to make, as 80 artists submitted a total of 213 works submitted for consideration.
Garnet eventually decided on 35 pieces, by 21 artists, to be featured in the show.
"As the juror for this group show, I was drawn to pieces that conveyed a connection to nature or family, or both," she said.
Garnet is the Director/Curator of the John B Aird Gallery in Toronto and a dedicated advocate for emerging artists.
She is expected to attend the opening of the exhibit and will present her Jurors' Choice awards.
The 2023 Ontario Juried Exhibition will open on August 25, at 7:00 pm with a reception and award presentation. It will run until October 22.
Admission to the gallery is free of charge, but donations are welcome.
