The 2nd Annual Big Golf Ball Drop fundraising event held at Links of Kent Golf Club in Chatham has raised just over $8,000 for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Chatham-Kent.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Chatham-Kent Executive Director Amanda Clark said more than 2,000 golf balls were dropped from a crane on to one of the greens and the golf ball closest to the flag stick won $3,000.
The winner is only identified as local resident Tom.
Clark said the funds raised from the fundraiser will go to helping local youth in Chatham-Kent reach their full potential.
"We are excited to begin planning for next year,” said Clark. “The plan is to make the event even better and add some new additions."
Clark thanked Jebco cranes for donating the crane, Links of Kent for providing the space to run the event, and the two local sponsors; RBC and Coca-Cola Bottling Ltd.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Chatham-Kent said it is committed to providing children and youth the highest quality, volunteer based mentoring programs and to remain a safe organization for every member of the community.
