Wanted man caught trying to cross the border

A 40-year-old Walpole Island man who was wanted by Chatham-Kent police was allegedly caught trying to cross the border at the Blue Water Bridge in Point Edward.

CK police said the man tried to cross the border there, but he was arrested by the Canadian Border Service Agency.

Officers confirmed that he was wanted by the Chatham-Kent Police Service in relation to an assault investigation and for failing to attend court, so he was taken to police headquarters in Chatham and was set to be held there pending a bail hearing.

Disturbance at C.M. Wilson Conservation Area

Chatham-Kent police managed to snag a wanted woman from Blenheim at C.M. Wilson Conservation Area early Monday morning.

Police said they found the woman, who was wanted for failing to comply with a release order, while officers were responding to a disturbance call.

The 26-year-old woman was arrested and taken to police headquarters where she was set to be held pending a bail hearing.

Muirkirk man arrested after argument turns violent

A 49-year-old Muirkirk man is charged with assault after he allegedly assaulted someone during an argument.

CK police said their investigation showed that the two men were arguing when one of them assaulted the other.

Police were called to the scene on Muirkirk Line shortly before 8 p.m. Sunday and arrested the accused.

He was taken to police headquarters and later released with conditions and a future court date.
