Wheat field fire near TilburyA combine caused a fire in a wheat field just outside of Tilbury on Wednesday afternoon.
Chatham-Kent Fire and Rescue said firefighters managed to save a significant amount of wheat crop on McKinlay Road, but 100 bushels of wheat were lost.
Fire crews from Station 19 in Tilbury and Station 17 in Merlin were called to the field and were able to put it out quickly.
No one was hurt.
Alan Smith will begin his new role with the municipality on July 20.
