A 21-year-old Wallaceburg man is facing several assault charges after police were called to a disturbance on Park Street in Dresden early Monday evening.
Police said they got the call just after 5:45 p.m. Monday, adding that when officers arrived, they saw a large group of people yelling.
Investigators said they learned a man and a woman had been involved in an altercation that injured the woman to the point where she needed to be taken to the hospital for medical attention.
Police said they also learned that some bystanders who witnessed the incident had tried to step in, but they were also allegedly assaulted by the man.
The man was arrested charged with six counts of assault along with one count each of aggravated assault and uttering threats.
He was taken to police headquarters and later released with conditions and a future court date.
