Chatham man accused of assaulting store employee
A 36-year-old Chatham man is facing assault and mischief charges after he allegedly knocked an employee's glasses off during a confrontation at a business on Lacroix Street in Chatham.
Chatham-Kent police said they were called to the business shortly after 11 a.m. Tuesday.
Their investigation showed that the man had allegedly pushed the employee after getting upset with them and then left the store.
The accused was arrested later the same day, charged, and released with conditions and a future court date.

Charing Cross man accused of threatening someone with a pellet gun
A 77-year-old Charing Cross man is facing a pair of weapons-related charges after he allegedly pointed a pellet gun at some people in an alleyway in Chatham.
Police said their investigation showed the victims had walked into an alleyway on Grand Avenue East after hearing a commotion and were then allegedly threatened by a man who pointed a firearm at them, saying he would shoot if they got any closer.
Officers said they were called to the scene just after 12 p.m. Tuesday, adding that they allegedly found the man holding a pellet gun when they arrived and that he placed the gun on a chair when he was directed to do so.
He was taken into custody without incident before he was charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, pointing a firearm, and uttering threats.
The man was taken to police headquarters and was set to be held there pending a bail hearing.

Traffic complaint leads police to allegedly drunk driver
A tip about a vehicle driving on and off the shoulder of Charing Cross Road led police to an allegedly impaired driver Tuesday afternoon.
Police said they received the traffic complaint just before 3 p.m. Tuesday and stopped the vehicle on Charing Cross Road near Devon Road.
The officer believed the driver was under the influence of alcohol, so a roadside test was administered before the driver was then taken to police headquarters for further breath tests.
His vehicle was also towed from the scene.
A 62-year-old Chatham man was later charged with having a blood alcohol concentration over the legal limit.
He was released with conditions and a future court date.

Chatham woman accused of punching man in the face
A 34-year-old Chatham woman is facing an assault charge after she allegedly punched a man in the face during an argument Tuesday afternoon.
Police said they arrested her after officers were called to a domestic dispute on Landings Place at 3:45 p.m. Tuesday.
The woman was taken to police headquarters, charged, and later released with conditions and a future court date.

Man, woman arrested for breaching release conditions
A call about a domestic dispute in Chatham led to a pair of arrests Tuesday night.
Police said the call directed them to Wellington Street East just before 11 p.m. Tuesday, adding that they found a man and a woman there together.
Officers said they learned the man was allegedly bound by a release order that required him to stop communicating with the woman who police allegedly found him with.
He was charged with failing to comply with a release order and was taken back to police headquarters where he was set to be held pending a bail hearing.
The 37-year-old Chatham woman who was also there was arrested and charged with failing to comply with a release order as well, but police didn't release any information on the condition she had allegedly breached.
She was taken to police headquarters and was later released with conditions and a future court date.
