Alleged drunk drivers arrested

A couple of people are accused of driving while impaired in two separate incidents.

Chatham-Kent police said a 32-year-old man was stopped on Dufferin Avenue in Wallaceburg on Friday at around 10:30 p.m. Police said he failed a roadside screening device and was eventually charged with having a blood alcohol level exceeding the legal limit.

A few hours later, shortly after midnight, police were called to the area of King Street West and 4th Street in Chatham. An employee of a nearby establishment called police after a 44-year-old man, who was denied entry due to his level of intoxication, was seen getting into a vehicle and driving away from the area.

Police later found the vehicle and the man was charged with impaired driving and having a blood alcohol level exceeding the legal limit.

Both drivers were eventually released from police custody with future court dates.
