Wanted man found in "suspicious vehicle"

Chatham-Kent police were able to cross another name off of their wanted list after they followed up on a report of a suspicious vehicle in a parking lot on Grand Avenue West in Chatham.

Police said the officers who found the vehicle allegedly determined that one of the passengers inside was wanted on an outstanding warrant for drug possession.

A 42-year-old Chatham man was arrested and later released pending a future court date.

Dump trailer stolen from business in Chatham

Police are appealing to the public for tips after a red and black dump trailer was reported stolen from a business on National Road in Chatham.

Officers said it's believed the trailer was taken sometime between 8:15 p.m. and 11:15 p.m. Tuesday night.

It was last seen with Ontario license plate R35 98H and is worth about $13,000.

Welfare check leads to arrest for public intoxication

A 31-year-old Chatham man spent some time sobering up in police custody after he was allegedly found "unable to care for himself" in a parking lot in Chatham.

Police said they found the man outside of a residential building on Pine Street just before 1 a.m. Thursday while they were following up on call for a welfare check.

The man was charged with being intoxicated in a public place and was released once he sobered up.
