Good Samaritan met with threats, rock throwing

A 28-year-old Chatham-Kent man is facing charges after he allegedly threw a rock at a driver who had stopped to help him.

Chatham-Kent police said the man was allegedly standing in the middle of the road on St. Clair Street in Chatham just before 5:30 p.m. Tuesday and blocking traffic when someone pulled up to check on him.

The man then allegedly threatened the driver and threw some items at the victim's vehicle, including a rock. Police said that caused some damage to the vehicle.

The Chatham-Kent man who was standing on the road was later arrested and charged with mischief and uttering threats.

He was taken to police headquarters and was later released with conditions and a future court date.

Argument over debt leads to violent outburst

A 36-year-old Chatham man is facing an assault charge after he allegedly hit another man while they were arguing about a debt.

Police said they got involved after officers were called to Pine Street at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday for an assault investigation.

CK police said they learned that the argument between the two men had escalated to the point where one of the men hit the other man several times.

The man accused of hitting the other man was arrested and charged with assault.

He was taken to police headquarters and was later released with conditions and a future court date.

Chatham-Kent woman booked for breaching release order

A 30-year-old Chatham-Kent woman is in more trouble with the law after she allegedly failed to sign in with police last week.

CK police said the woman was arrested shortly after 1:30 p.m. Tuesday after she showed up at the front desk at CK police headquarters.

Police said she was on a release condition that required her to sign in each week with the officer in charge, but she allegedly skipped that appointment the week prior.

She was charged with breaching a release order and was later released with a future court date.
