Fence stops vehicle during police chase
Charges are pending against a 34-year-old driver after a hit and run in Chatham Wednesday morning.
Chatham-Kent OPP said they were investigating a report of a stolen vehicle on Silvana Drive when the drier allegedly tried to evade police and ended up hitting a fence.
At that point, the driver allegedly took off running, but was "safely taken into custody," according to OPP.

Man assaulted with a shovel during well-being check
A 24-year-old Dresden man is facing an assault charge after he allegedly hit someone with a shovel when they went to check on him.
Police said they were called to the scene on Brown Street in Dresden just after 7:30 p.m. Tuesday and learned that the victim was reportedly checking on the man, who lived in the back of the property, when the man allegedly charged at the victim and hit them with a shovel.
The force of the blow allegedly knocked the victim to ground and cause them an undisclosed physical injury.
The man accused of swinging the shovel was arrested and charged with assault with a weapon. He was taken to police headquarters and was set to be held there pending a bail hearing.

Windsor man accused in Chatham break-in, assaulting neighbour
A 54-year-old Windsor man is facing a handful of charges after he allegedly broke into a residence on Grand Avenue East in Chatham and then assaulted a neighbour who confronted him.
Police said they were called in just before 10:30 p.m. Tuesday and when they arrived, they learned that the suspect had allegedly entered the residence through a window to retrieve some personal items.
The man also allegedly assaulted a neighbour who confronted him, resulting in undisclosed injuries for the victim.
The Windsor man was arrested and charged with two counts of assault and one count of break and enter.
He was taken to police headquarters and was later released with conditions and a future court date.

Chatham-Kent man arrested after disturbance on a city bus
A 74-year-old Chatham-Kent man spent some time sobering up in a police holding cell after he was allegedly causing a disturbance on a city bus in Chatham.
Chatham-Kent police said they arrested him after getting a call about that disturbance on St. Clair Street shortly after 12 p.m. Tuesday.
The accused was taken to police headquarters and was held there until he sobered up.
