Man arrested after crashing vehicle, providing false name
A 63-year-old Chatham man is in even more trouble with police after allegedly crashing his car while under the influence of alcohol.
Police responded to the collision on Degge Street in Chatham at around 2:30 on Friday.
Officers said they believed the man was driving while under the influence of alcohol an that he also provided a fake name.
Eventually, the identity of the man was confirmed and police discovered that the man was bound by court conditions to not communicate with a female or attend a residence on Degge Street.
The man was found to be failing to comply with his court conditions as a result of this investigation.
The 63-year-old man was arrested and transported to police headquarters for breath tests.
He was charged with impaired driving, obstruct police and two counts of failing to comply.
The man was released when sober with a future court date.

A Chatham man spent some time sobering up in police custody after he was found sleeping inside a business in Ridgetown.
Police said they were called to the business on Victoria Road around 1:45 p.m. Friday and found the man in an intoxicated state.The man was taken into custody and charged with being intoxicated in a public place.
He was released when sober.

A 28-year-old Wallaceburg will now have to answer to a theft charge after allegedly stealing a bicycle from the front of a business near the police station in Wallaceburg.The man was located later in the afternoon by police in possession of the stolen bicycle.
The man was arrested and charged with theft under $5,000 and possession of property obtained by crime.
He was released pending a future court date .
