Man severely injured after assault in Tilbury

A 20-year-old woman from Tilbury is facing an aggravated assault charge after an altercation over the weekend that left a man with severe injuries.

Shortly after 5 p.m. on Saturday, Chatham-Kent police were called to a domestic disturbance on Mill Street in Tilbury.

When officers arrived, they located a man who had sustained severe injuries and was receiving assistance from concerned citizens. The man was transported to a local hospital for medical attention.

Through investigation, police learned the man and the woman engaged in a verbal argument that escalated when the woman allegedly threatened the man with a knife. A physical altercation then ensued, resulting in the man being injured.

As a result, the woman was arrested and charged with aggravated assault. She was transported to police headquarters and held pending a bail hearing. The woman was remanded into custody until a future court date.

The Chatham-Kent Police are now asking the good Samaritans who stopped to assist the man to contact Detective Constable Shawn Tremblay at shawnt@chatham-kent.ca or 519-436-6600.
