Police find stolen vehicle after suspects try to find fuel

Three men are facing charges after Chatham-Kent police recovered a pickup truck that was reported stolen from a home just east of Chatham over the weekend.

Police said the 2014 Silver Chevy Silverado was taken from a residence on Northwood Line in Harwich Township on Saturday, adding that officers found it one road over on Fairview Line at around 3 p.m. Sunday after they received a call about a suspicious vehicle.

Officers were told the vehicle was stopped at the corner of Harwich Line and Fairview Line and that the three men driving the vehicle were at a home on Harwich Line, looking for fuel.

When police arrived, they arrested all three men and took them back to police headquarters.

They were all later charged after police reviewed some video surveillance and spoke to some witnesses.

Based on the police investigation, a 27-year-old London man and a 31-year-old Chatham-Kent man were both charged with possession of stolen property.

A 26-year-old Raleigh Township man was also charged with possession of stolen property, but he is facing additional charges of theft of a motor vehicle and breaking and entering.

All three of the accused were later released with conditions and a future court date.

Wallaceburg man allegedly threatens woman with a knife

A 48-year-old Wallaceburg man is facing a pair of charges after he allegedly threatened a woman while holding a knife.

Police said they arrested the man after they were called to the residence on Montgomery Crescent in Wallaceburg at around 12:45 a.m. Monday for a domestic disturbance.

Officers learned that the man and the woman had been arguing when the man allegedly picked up a knife and held it up while threatening the woman.

The accused was charged with uttering threats and assault with a weapon and he was later released with conditions and a future court date.
