Unknown person sought for smashing drive thru window, stealing safe

Chatham-Kent police are probing a break and enter at a business on St. Clair Street.

Police say early Friday morning an unknown person forced their way into the building by smashing a drive thru window. The person then reportedly found a safe and left with it, however, the safe was later discovered near the business and had not been opened.

A suspect has yet to be identified in this investigation, according to police. 24-year-old man arrested by way of warrant

Police have taken a man into custody who was issued a surety relief warrant.

Officers attended a McNaughton Avenue residence on Friday night and arrested the suspect on the strength of the warrant, according to police. The man was taken to the Chatham-Kent Police Headquarters and is being held pending a bail hearing.

--- Police locate woman on outstanding warrant for theft

A 52-year-old Chatham woman was arrested Friday night who was wanted by the law for theft and possession over $5,000.

Officers were called to a residence on Colborne Street for a police assistance complaint, and after they arrived, a woman was located who was known to be wanted on a warrant. She was arrested and taken into custody at the Chatham-Kent Police Headquarters awaiting a bail hearing.
