Tara, Ontario man attacks Blenheim woman with scissors on Valentine's Day
A man who was under house arrest near Owen Sound is facing several charges after he allegedly travelled three and a half hours south to attack a woman in Chatham-Kent.
Chatham-Kent police said they arrested the man after they were called to a residence on Chatham Street in Harwich Township just after 5 p.m. Tuesday for a report of a domestic disturbance.
Officers said they learned that the man and a woman had been arguing before the man left the residence.
Police said when he came back, he kicked in the door to the woman's home, damaging the door frame.
Once he got inside, the man allegedly continued to damage the doors and some kitchen appliances before his violent spree turned toward the woman, who he threw to the ground and attacked with scissors.
Police said after that, the man left the residence and damaged the woman's car.
During their investigation, officers also learned that the man had been ordered by the court back in June of last year to stay at a specific address in Tara, Ontario at all times with limited exceptions.
Police managed to track the man down a short distance away from the woman's residence about 10 minutes after they were called in and arrested him.
A 34-year-old Tara, Ontario man was charged with breaking and entering, assault, mischief, failing to comply with a release order, and two counts of assault with a weapon.
He was taken back to police headquarters and was set to be held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Officers said the woman was taken into custody because she "could not care for herself" and was held by police until she was sober.
She was also issued a ticket for being intoxicated in a public place.
The 36-year-old man was arrested just after 4:30 a.m. Wednesday after he was allegedly seen knocking on the windows of a business on St. Clair Street in Chatham and causing a disturbance.
