Woman with a history of shoplifting arrested again

A 50-year-old Chatham woman who had already been flagged for "past theft incidents" is facing more charges now after she allegedly stole some items from a business in Chatham.

Chatham-Kent police said they were called to the store on Grand Avenue West just before 11 a.m. Monday.

Police said they were told the woman, who was known to staff for previous incidents of theft, had gone into the store and removed several items from the racks.

Then, when she was asked to leave, the woman reportedly started yelling and left the store with some of the items without paying for them.

Officers were able to track her down while they were searching the area and arrested her.

Police said in addition to the reported theft, she was also wanted for failing to attend court.
