A new mobile health care clinic coming to Bothwell is being touted as welcomed news.
Chatham-Kent Council voted 17-0 in support of the clinic.
Councilor Steve Pinnsoneault said the community of Bothwell has been under-serviced for many years and this clinic will help many people, including seniors.
Pinnsoneault said one area family doctor will be retiring soon.
Chatham-Kent's General Manager of Health and Family Services and the Director of Public Health at the Chatham-Kent Public Health Unit April Rietdyk said the clinic won't replace family doctors.
Rietdyk also said the municipality is looking at more of these mobile health care clinics in other areas.

A new mobile health care clinic could be coming to Bothwell.
CarePartners/Community Nursing Services Foundation wants to lease a corner of the parking lot of the Bothwell Arena for the new clinic. If approved at Monday night's Council, the clinic would be housed in a 55 foot long and 20 foot wide trailer. The trailer would also be equipped with a ramped accessible entrance, a fully accessible washroom, a self-contained water system, and one full size treatment room with the option of a smaller IV room.
CarePartners has been working on setting up mobile clinics in Ontario to optimize patient care and access to resources in more rural and isolated areas. CarePartners has received funding from the Erie St. Clair Home and Community Care Support Services specifically for this project.
The lease agreement calls for a four year lease and monthly rent of $750 paid to the Municipality.
CarePartners said its goals include increasing overall patient satisfaction and improving patient safety ratings.
