A 43-year-old Port Lambton man is accused of driving while impaired after a single-vehicle collision was reported on Highway 401 in Chatham-Kent.
An officer of the Elgin County OPP (Chatham detachment) found a vehicle that left the westbound highway on January 27 at around 10:16 p.m.
The vehicle was previously described to police after a Good Samaritan reported a suspected impaired driver.
OPP said the driver was uninjured.
He was charged with six offences, which are listed below.
- Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs - Operation while impaired - blood concentration (80 plus) - Driver - fail to properly wear seat belt - Operate a motor vehicle without insurance - Drive motor vehicle, no currently validated permit - Fail to notify change of address - licence
The driver now has a 90-day driver's licence suspension and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Chatham at a later date.
