Suspicious person complaint leads to arrest

A 35-year-old Wallaceburg man who was already wanted by police has reportedly been charged with a third offence.

On Friday afternoon, officers say they received complaint about a suspicious person at Walmart, but when they arrived at the store, the man had already left in a vehicle.

Police said they located the vehicle a short distance away and initiated a traffic stop. After establishing the man's identity, officers discovered he had outstanding warrants for allegedly failing to attend court and breaching probation. On top of these charges, police say the man is now accused of theft under $5,000 in connection to an incident at Walmart on January 7.

The man was arrested and released with a future court date.

As a result of the investigation, the woman was arrested for theft under $5,000 and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, according to police. During the course of the arrest, police say the woman resisted officers and was charged accordingly.

Single-vehicle collision leads to impaired driving charges

After responding to a collision near Seventh Line and Howard Road, police say an 18-year-old Holland Landing man has been charged with impaired driving.

On Friday afternoon, a driver reportedly lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a hydro pole. When police arrived at the scene, they determined that the man had consumed alcohol and he was reportedly arrested for operation while impaired.

After being transported to police headquarters, police said the accused provided two breath samples which registered him over the legal limit.

As a result, the man was additionally charged with having more than the prescribed amount of alcohol in his blood while operating a vehicle, according to police.

The man was released with a future court date.
