Police arrest Tilbury woman wanted for fraud

A 36-year-old Tilbury woman is facing more than a half-dozen charges in connection with a fraud investigation.

Chatham-Kent police said the woman, who was wanted on several outstanding warrants in connection with the case, was arrested after police pulled over a vehicle on Middle Line in Tilbury East Township just after 9:30 a.m. Wednesday.

CK police said the woman was also wanted by OPP.

She was arrested and taken back to police headquarters and is now facing the following charges:

- three counts of uttering forged documents

- two counts of possession of stolen property

- two counts of forgery

- one count each of identity fraud and failing to attend court

She was set to be held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Wanted Wallaceburg man arrested

A 32-year-old Wallaceburg man who was wanted for failing to comply with his probation order spent some more time in police custody, albeit briefly.

Police said they found him while they were following up on some suspicious activity on Blake Street in Wallaceburg over the noon-hour on Wednesday.

The man was arrested, charged with two counts of failing to comply with his probation, and released with a future court date.

Police catch up with Walpole Island man wanted for theft

A 40-year-old Walpole Island man who was already wanted for theft is facing an additional theft-related charge after police were called to the Walmart on St. Clair Street in Chatham on Wednesday.

Chatham-Kent police said they found the man after were called to the store for a theft complaint at around 1:45 p.m. Wednesday.

The accused was arrested, charged with theft and possession of stolen property, and taken back to police headquarters before he was released with conditions and a future court date.

Young man in Blenheim charged with impaired driving

A 21-year-old Blenheim man who wasn't supposed to be behind the wheel in the first place is in even more trouble now after he was allegedly caught drinking and driving.

Police said they pulled the man's vehicle over on Middle Line in Raleigh Township after getting a call about a traffic complaint on William Street in Merlin just after 3 p.m. Wednesday.

The officer who was checking on the driver believed he was under the influence of alcohol, so he was arrested and taken back to police headquarters for further breath tests.

Police said he was later charged with having a blood alcohol concentration over the legal limit and driving while suspended.

He was later released with conditions and a future court date.
