Bowling fundraiser to benefit Chatham-Kent Victim Services

Chatham-Kent Victim Services is gearing up for a lucky strike at its upcoming Bowling Thunder fundraiser.

The event is set for Sunday, February 5 at Chatham Bowlerama.

Local residents, businesses, and organizations are encouraged to register a team and help raise money to support those impacted by crime or trauma across the municipality.

"Bowling is an activity that everyone can do, it's not very limiting for anyone," said Jason Brown, a volunteer and the community engagement coordinator at Chatham-Kent Victim Services. "We thought it was a very inclusive way to get everyone involved that wants to participate."

Team registration is $500 for a group of five. Pledges are due the day of the event, although, teams are required to pre-register.

Lane sponsorship is available for $250. Organizations and businesses wishing to sponsor a lane and enter a team may do so for $500.

"It's going to be a fun afternoon," said Brown.

The event will also include a silent auction with donations from various local and regional partners.

The event will run from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., with doors opening at 1:30 p.m.

According to Brown, there is no specific fundraising goal, but all proceeds raised will benefit the organization's crisis intervention services.

"Victim Services provides immediate short-term crisis intervention," said Brown. "The proceeds will help us with the operational costs associated with that program."

Anyone interested in signing up, sponsoring, or donating a silent auction item can contact Jason Brown at jbrown@ckvictimservices.com.
