Wanted man turns himself in

A 37-year-old Thamesville man who was wanted in connection with a theft investigation in Howard Township has turned himself in.

Chatham-Kent police said the man showed up at police headquarters over the noon-hour Thursday.

The man was wanted for theft and possession of stolen property in connection with a case that goes back to March 2022.

He was also wanted for failing to attend court.

The accused was arrested and later released with a future court date.

CK police give OPP a pair of assists

Chatham-Kent police helped out their colleagues with the OPP to track down two people who were wanted on outstanding warrants.

Police said they arrested a 48-year-old Walpole Island man just after 1 p.m. Thursday on Murray Street who was wanted by Lambton OPP.

He was turned over to Walpole Island Police Service after being arrested by CK police.

Less than an hour later, a 34-year-old Chatham man who was also wanted by Lambton OPP was arrested by CK police -- also in Wallaceburg.

This time, it was on Wallace Street, at around 1:50 p.m. Thursday.

The second man arrested on a warrant was also turned over to Walpole Island police.

Wanted man turns up during separate investigation

Chatham-Kent police can cross another name off of their wanted list.

Police said they arrested a 46-year-old who was wanted for failing to attend court while officer were investigating a separate matter on Murray Street in Chatham just after 3 p.m. Thursday.

The accused was arrested and taken to police headquarters then later released with a new court date.

Neighbour dispute takes violent turn

A 49-year-old Blenheim man is facing an assault charge after he allegedly hit his neighbour during an argument.

Police said they were called to the scene on Talbot Street West in Blenheim just after 10 a.m. Thursday and learned that the man had been arguing with a woman when things got physical and the man allegedly hit his neighbour in the face.

Officers found the man about 12 hours later and arrested him.

He was charged with assault and later released with conditions and a future court date.

Speeders stopped on Grand River Line

It didn't take long for Chatham-Kent to hand out a handful of tickets to speeders on Grand River Line just outside of Chatham on Thursday.

Police said within 90 minutes, they had issued six tickets for speeding and one ticket for a seatbelt infraction.

They are reminding drivers to slow down, especially because speed is a significant factor in collisions with serious and fatal injuries.
