Wallaceburg shooting victim improving, suspect still at large

The victim of a shooting in Wallaceburg last week is getting better and about to get out of the hospital.

Chatham-Kent police say the 42-year-old man suffered serious injuries during a shooting in the area of Murray Street and Earl Street in Wallaceburg at approximately 7 a.m. on Friday.

"The victim is still in hospital in stable condition and expected to be released soon," Public Information Officer Sergeant Lynette Hodder told CK News Today on Tuesday afternoon.

Hodder also said the investigation continues.

No arrests have been made and it's unclear if any weapon has been recovered.

It's also unknown if the victim is cooperating with police or if he knows the suspect or suspects.

On Friday, police were reassuring the public that this was an isolated incident and there was no concern for public safety.

Earlier that day, police were warning the public to stay away from the area because of an investigation.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact Constable Shawn Tremblay at shawnt@chatham-kent.ca or 519-436-6600 — extension 618.
