The Municipality of Chatham-Kent has named a new general manager of infrastructure and engineering services.
The municipality announced Monday that Edward Soldo will be taking over the position, officially starting his new role Tuesday, January 17, 2023.
“I am very pleased to advise we have finalized an employment contract with Mr. Edward Soldo to serve as Chatham-Kent’s General Manager of Infrastructure and Engineering Services," said chief administrative officer Michael Duben in a media release Monday.
Soldo is an engineer who is coming to Chatham-Kent from Hamilton where he held the position of chief roadway official.
He has also had prior leadership and management positions with the City of London, the City of St. Thomas, the County of Haldimand, and the Region of Halton.
"Soldo brings considerable experience in transportation, operations, asset management, construction, drainage, and other public works disciplines," read the release.
Soldo graduated with a Bachelor of Engineering degree from McMaster University, as well as a diploma in Public Administration from Western University. He also has a Master's Certificate in Municipal Leadership from York University.
"Edward is an avid cyclist and also volunteers with a number of professional technical organizations and is currently the District Director for Canada with the Institute of Transportation Engineers," read the release.
Soldo is replacing the municipality's former general manager of infrastructure and engineering services, Thomas Kelly, who was let go from the municipality in March.
