Chatham Goodfellows ready for Street Sales

Volunteers in red aprons will be out in Chatham this weekend, collecting donations for the Chatham Goodfellows.

Their annual Street Sales fundraiser is this Friday and Saturday. Volunteers will be standing in front of local businesses, selling their newspapers for a donation.

"This is where we have the second push for a lot of money," said Past President of the Chatham Goodfellows Tim Haskell. "Last year I think we made somewhere around $30,000. That's kind of the thing we need to make, is that $30,000 for sure. That keeps us where we have to be to make sure we pay our bills."

All the money raised goes to their annual "No Child Without a Christmas" campaign.

Haskell said they are still looking for volunteers, and you can sign up on their website, www.chathamgoodfellows.ca.

"You can go online and we have a volunteer page, you can go on there and put whatever day you want to be there. It's just to give us an idea how many is coming out," said Haskell. "If you want to show up, just show up too, and we will try to put you to work."

But Street Sales is just the start of a very busy few weeks for the Goodfellows.

Toy packing will take place from December 12 to the 15 at the former Monsignor Uyen Catholic School on Lark Street. Toys will be delivered on December 19 after 5 p.m.

Food Packing and delivery will take place at the Spirit and life Center on December 20.
