Chatham Goodfellows recognize longtime volunteers

As the Chatham Goodfellows club prepares for its biggest donation campaign of the year, the organization is recognizing some of its longtime volunteers and supporters.

The Chatham Goodfellows recently held its 68th annual General Dinner meeting to kick off the 2022 No Child Without a Christmas Campaign.

This year’s President's Award was presented to Terry Vogler Trucking.

According to organization officials,  Terry Vogler Trucking has been helping the Goodfellows for the past eight years and has quickly become one of their go to companies when they need assistance.

"Especially during the last two years when we have had to drastically alter the way we did our food packing and deliveries this company lent us two reefer trucks to store all of our refrigerated and frozen products in while we were packing food boxes over several days," Goodfellows officials said through a media release. "Without these trucks it would have been a much more difficult process."

Meanwhile, the Chatham Goodfellows Lifetime Achievement Award went to a family that has offered up several lifetimes worth of volunteer time.

The Morlog family has been associated with the Chatham Goodfellows for over 50 years.

According to the organization, when it added up all of their family years together it totals well over 600 years of volunteering.

The Morlog family has taken on the task of overhauling the way receipts are prepared and issued for the Chatham Goodfellows and is involved in every other aspect of the group's work including food and toy packing and delivery.

Richard and Bonnie Regnier were awarded the Mr. and Mrs. Goodfellow award in recognition of their over 20 years being involved with the organization.

"They heard about all the good that this organization does for the community and felt that they had to help in any way that they could," officials said. "Since that time, they have been available to help when needed and have made a name for themselves in several areas, from helping to sort food donations, gathering banana boxes as well as ensuring all the volunteers for Porch Light and food packing and delivery are well fed."

Applications for the No Child Without a Christmas campaign are now being accepted online for anyone who has applied in previous years. All others can apply by phone 519-354-1146 beginning November 7 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. from Monday to Friday.

Applications will close Friday, December 2.

Meanwhile, The Chatham Goodfellows Porchlight Campaign takes place on November 28 while Street Sales happen on December 9 and 10.
