Three drivers are facing charges after OPP stopped them for speeding and impaired driving on the Highway 401 in southwestern Ontario over the weekend.
Provincial police said they stopped the first speeder just after 9 p.m. on Friday, October 28 after recording a vehicle going 181 kilometres per hour in a 100 km/h zone in Chatham-Kent.
A 45-year-old Toronto resident was charged with stunt driving.
Less than four hours after that -- just before 1 a.m. on Saturday, October 29 -- OPP stopped a vehicle that was recorded going 170 km/h on the Hwy. 401 in Chatham-Kent.
A 20-year-old Blenheim resident was charged with stunt driving and being a young driver with a blood alcohol concentration above zero.
Both of those drivers had their licence suspended for 30 days and their vehicles were impounded for 14 days.
A day later -- just after 8:30 p.m. on Sunday, October 30 -- Elgin County OPP got a call about a suspected impaired driver and managed to track him down at the Westbound Service Centre on Highway 401 in Dutton-Dunwich.
A 50-year-old Blenheim man was later charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol and drugs and failing or refusing to comply with a demand.
His vehicle was impounded and his driver's licence was suspended.
All of the accused are scheduled to appear in court at a later date to answer to their charges.
