Chatham-Kent residents should expect plenty of closures during the long weekend as municipal staff and several others will be giving thanks.
All municipal offices will be closed on Monday for Thanksgiving. The Health and Family Services building will be closed on October 10, which means the offices of Employment and Social Services, Housing Services, Child Care and Early Years, and Public Health will not be open until Tuesday.
Residents who use public transit to get around will need to look up other modes of transportation as CK Transit will not be operational on Monday.
Garbage and recycling collection services for the week will be delayed by one day. The Harwich and Wallaceburg Transfer Stations will be closed on Monday however, all other transfer stations will be open during regular hours. Meanwhile, all leaf and yard depots will be closed.
All Chatham-Kent public library branches will also be closed on Thanksgiving Monday along with the Blenheim Gable Rees Rotary Pool and the Wallaceburg Sydenham Pool.
As per usual, emergency services and emergency rooms at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance will remain open 24 hours daily.
However, in recognition of the Thanksgiving weekend, some services at the Chatham and Wallaceburg hospitals may be altered.
Ambulatory care services, out-patient rehabilitation services, pre-surgical screening services, diabetes education centre, the TIA and CAD clinics, pulmonary function lab, outpatient lab services, health records and patient appointment offices will all be closed on Monday, as will the mental health and addictions program out-patient department.
During the holiday, some outpatient diagnostic tests will take place. Patients with scheduled diagnostic tests are advised to attend their appointments. These departments will also be staffed to meet the needs of inpatients and emergencies.
Elston Pharmacy, which is located at the Chatham hospital, will also be closed on Thanksgiving Monday.

The Homeless Response Line at 519-354-6628 for homeless emergencies within Chatham-Kent is operational 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
The Rapid Access to Addiction Medicine clinic will be closed on Monday. However, anyone facing an immediate crisis can call the crisis line at 1-866-299-7447 or visit the emergency department.
