Facebook birthday message gets local man arrested

A 79-year-old Chatham man is finding out the hard way that when you are banned from using electronic devices, that means no Facebook birthday messages.

Chatham-Kent police said their investigation started when they got a call about a bail violation just after 11 a.m. on Thursday.

Police said they later learned that a local 79-year-old man who was bound by bail conditions not to possess or use electronic devices had posted a birthday message on Facebook about his victim.

As a result, the accused was arrested and taken back to police headquarters. He was later released with conditions and a future court date.

Woman arrested for knocking on a door she wasn't supposed to

A 23-year-old Wallaceburg woman is in more trouble with the law after she allegedly knocked on the door of a residence she had been ordered to stay away from.

Police said they were called to the home on Henry Street in Wallaceburg at around 4:20 a.m. Friday and learned that the homeowner had been disturbed by a woman who was knocking on her door and trying to get inside.

The woman who was allegedly knocking on the door had also previously been released with an order not to attend that specific residence.

When police arrived, they found the woman on Bruce Street and arrested her.

The accused was charged with failing to comply with an undertaking and was taken to police headquarters where she was set to be held pending a bail hearing.
