OPP looking for damaged pickup truck after T-bone crash near Chatham

Chatham-Kent OPP are putting out a call for tips after someone driving a pickup truck allegedly caused a collision just outside of Chatham that sent two people to the hospital.

Provincial police said they were called to the scene at the intersection of Communication Road and Maynard Line at around 1:45 a.m. on August 20.

Their investigation showed that a pickup truck that was heading west on Maynard Line failed to stop at the stop sign and ended up coming into the path a white Kia that was heading north on Communication Rd.

Officers said the northbound Kia hit the pickup truck and then hit a hydro pole while the pickup truck went into a farmer's field.

Police said after the crash, the pickup truck drove through a field and left in an unknown direction.*

OPP said three people inside the Kia at the time of the crash suffered minor injuries -- two of them were taken to the hospital for treatment.

The suspect vehicle is described as a dark-coloured pickup truck and it is believed to have extensive damage.

Anyone with information should contact police or Crime Stoppers.

*The initial report from OPP said the pickup truck was last seen heading east on Maynard Line, but an update sent out late Monday night said it left in an "unknown direction"
