Olivia Newton-John was honestly loved.
The singer, actress, and activist died peacefully at home after a decades-long battle against breast cancer, her husband John Easterling announced in a Facebook post on Monday.
Newton-John began performing early, as a teenager, but her career really took off in the 1970s with a series of Number One hits like I Honestly Love You and Please Mr. Please.
At 28, she played high school cheerleader Sandy, in Grease, which is one of the most enduring movies with one of the best-selling soundtracks of all time. Like Sandy, Newton-John shed her good girl image after Grease. In 1981, she released Physical which went double platinum despite being banned on some radio stations for being too provocative.
Newton-John continued to release music, but found her life disrupted when she was diagnosed with breast cancer in the early 1990s.
Her diagnosis led to her becoming an advocate for breast cancer research and other health issues. She was also a prominent animal rights and environmental rights activist.
