CK Fire rescues person from Thames River

Chatham-Kent Fire and Rescue say one person is safe after a scary incident on the Thames River on Thursday night.

Emergency crews from Chatham responded to a water call around 8:30 p.m. with reports of a person in the river.

According to CK Fire, emergency responders could see a person in the water when they arrived to the scene. They were able to quickly pull the individual from the water and returned to shore where they were transported to the hospital. There is no word on the person's condition at this time.

“I would like to thank our partnering emergency responders, CK Police and CK EMS,” said CK Fire Chief Chris Case. “Quick and effective actions by all resulted in a life being saved.”

CK Fire officials are using this as an opportunity to remind residents that rivers can be unpredictable and contain hidden dangers.
